Vikings agree to terms with OL Schwartz

The Vikings agreed to terms on a one-year contract with offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz.

Free-agent offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz has agreed to a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Scout.com.

Schwartz tweeted that he had an “awesome” visit with the Vikings on Monday, but he continued his free-agent tour by visiting the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday. He characterized the visit as “fantastic.”

“FYI, taking all my visits doesn't mean one team is ahead. Just doing my due diligence,” Schwartz tweeted on Monday. He also visited the Detroit Lions before the Vikings.

Minnesota’s offensive line coach, Jeff Davidson, coached Schwartz with the Carolina Panthers in 2009 and 2010. Davidson joined the Vikings in 2011, and Schwartz missed all of last season with a hip injury.

Before that, Schwartz – who was a seventh-round pick of the Panthers and wasn’t offered a free-agent tender – had started 19 of 32 games with the Panthers, playing right tackle and right guard. The Vikings released both of their starting guards, Steve Hutchinson and Anthony Herrera, before free agency started last week.
