The Vikings continued a busy second week of free agency by signing WR Devin Aromashodu Friday. He is the fourth in-house free agent the Vikings have re-signed.
The second week of free agency has been an active one for the
Minnesota Vikings
and they signed a wide receiver on Friday evening.
Minnesota reportedly re-signed
Devin Aromashodu
to a one-year deal Friday. Aromashodu, 27, had 26 catches for 468 yards and a touchdown last season for Minnesota and came on at the end of the season after injuries hit the team's depth. Signed last offseason from the
Chicago Bears
, he had 17 catches in the final five weeks of the season.
He entered unrestricted free agency last week and the Vikings stayed away from some of the high-profile receivers last week as several players were signed to rich, multi-year deals.
Aromashodu will have the chance to come in as Minnesota's No. 3 or No. 4 receiver next season, already familiar with the team's offense.
Percy Harvin
had his best season as a pro last year, and
Michael Jenkins
will be back following knee surgery during last season.
Emmanuel Arceneaux
,
Stephen Burton
,
Kerry Taylor
and
Kris Adams
are also on the roster. Minnesota also could look to shore up the position in next month's draft.
Aromashodu is the type of deep threat the Vikings need to stretch the field and take pressure off of Harvin, and tight ends
Kyle Rudolph
and
John Carlson
. The six-year pro averaged 18.0 yards per catch last season.
Earlier Friday, Minnesota also re-signed linebacker
Erin Henderson
to a reported one-year, $2 million contract. After a slow opening week to free agency when the Vikings only signed Carlson and retained defensive tackle
Letroy Guion
, this week has seen the team sign a pair of running back/fullback types (
Lex Hilliard
and
Jerome Felton
) and an offensive tackle (
Geoff Schwartz
).
Minnesota has re-signed four of its own players, bringing back Aromashodu, Henderson, Guion and defensive tackle
Fred Evans
.
Former
Baltimore Ravens
cornerback
Chris Carr
was reportedly in for a visit late this week, but left Friday without a deal.
