The Vikings had a more extensive injury report than usual after their loss at Chicago. Plus, Leslie Frazier addressed Peterson being late for the team bus.
The Vikings had several players come out the
Chicago Bears
game Sunday with injuries, including a shoulder sprain for star running back
Adrian Peterson
.
“We’ll have to monitor his progress over the course of the week; shouldn’t be a problem as far as getting ready for the ball game,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said.
Peterson leads the league with 1,236 yards – Seattle’s
Marshawn Lynch
is second with 1,064 – and is coming off his fifth straight game with more than 100 yards rushing, tying a franchise record.
The injury to Peterson wasn’t a good end to his day, despite rushing for 108 yards on 18 carries (6.0-yard average), and his day didn’t start well either.
Peterson missed the bus from the team hotel to Soldier Field and had to take a taxi, but Frazier declined to get into specifics about what exactly happened.
“The conversation itself I’ll have to keep between he and I. We have talked about it and hopefully it will never happen again. I can’t see why it would. I hope it never happens again,” Frazier said.
“… Anytime one of your leaders is not where he’s supposed to be, it’s not good. I mean, I talk to our team all the time about being where you’re supposed to be and being where you’re supposed to be on time. So, it’s a big deal.”
Frazier said punctuality hasn’t been an issue with Peterson in the past.
Frazier said after the game that he would talk with Peterson about it further, and Monday he said that conversation happened, despite declining to get into details of what was said.
The head coach knew that Peterson wasn’t on the bus when it left the hotel, but he didn’t talk with Peterson on the phone about why he wasn’t on the bus.
“I knew when we left. He’s Adrian Peterson, so I knew if he’s on or not on,” Frazier said.
He wasn’t sure how many players actually noticed. Peterson also declined to get into specifics about what happened after the game, according to reports.
In addition to Peterson’s injury, middle linebacker
Jasper Brinkley
suffered a sprained AC, which is the area between the collarbone and shoulder blade and right tackle
Phil Loadholt
has some inflammation in one his knees.
The Vikings were still evaluating safety
Harrison Smith
and tight end
Kyle Rudolph
for concussion-like symptoms.
Frazier had no update on the status of
Percy Harvin
, who has missed the last two games with a sprained left ankle and had an additional week of healing with the Vikings’ bye on Nov. 18.
