Safety Jamarca Sanford, who wasn’t a starter to begin the 2012 season but held onto the job after getting it following an injury, is back with the Vikings, he tweeted.

The Vikings have re-signed safety Jamarca Sanford, he tweeted on Tuesday afternoon. It is a two-year contract, according to Pro Football Talk.

Sanford played in 16 games for the Vikings last year, starting the final 13 after Mistral Raymond was injured. Sanford has started 27 of the last 32 games he played at strong safety.

He led the Vikings with four forced fumbles. He was fifth on the team with 80 tackles, including a season-high 12 against the Bucs, had five quarterback hurries, five passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. He added six tackles on special teams.

He is the fourth unrestricted free agent to sign with the Vikings, joining RT Phil Loadholt, Jerome Simpson and Joe Berger.
