Culpepper loses one house to foreclosure

Former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper has lost a Florida home to a bank in foreclosure. Plus, the Lions have released RB Jahvid Best after a series of concussions and Nike is apologizing for a geography error on a Carolina Panthers T-shirt.
Former NFL quarterback
has lost a Florida home he owned to a bank in a foreclosure case.
Broward County court records show the nearly 10,000-square-foot home was surrendered in April to SunTrust Bank in lieu of foreclosure. The bank dropped its lawsuit against Culpepper earlier this month.
Culpepper bought the house for about $3.6 million when he was signed by the
in 2006. The bank cited $3 million in debt in court papers. Records show Culpepper still owns another home in the suburb of Weston.
Besides the Dolphins, Culpepper played for the
. He last played in 2010 for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.
A first-round draft choice in 1999, Culpepper played his first seven seasons in the NFL with the Vikings. His best season was in 2004, when he completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 4,717 yards, 39 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 110.9 rating.
The foreclosure was first reported by the South Florida Business Journal.

The Detroit Lions have released running back
, a first-round draft pick from 2010 who hasn't played since October 2011 because of concussion problems.
General manager Martin Mayhew calls Best as fine a person and professional as he has ever worked with. Best says Lions fans and the people of Detroit will always hold a special place in his heart.
Best accounted for 1,000-plus yards and six touchdowns as a rookie, but he was limited to six games during the 2011 season after what he said was the third concussion of his football career.

NIKE APOLOGIZES FOR ERROR
Nike has issued an apology for the geographic error on a line of
The sports apparel maker recently offered a black Panthers T-shirt which included a blue silhouette of the state of South Carolina, the team's logo inside the silhouette and the letters "NC" in the upper left corner of the silhouette. The shirt sold for $32, but was soon taken down from the company's web store.
Company spokesman Brian Strong said in an email that a small quantity of the shirts was offered for sale and shouldn't have been. He said Nike apologizes for the error.
While the team's name is meant to encompass the two Carolinas, the Panthers play home games in Charlotte. Their stadium is approximately 10 miles from the South Carolina state line.
