Vikings claim T Webb, assemble practice squad
The team claimed offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb off waivers from the Chicago Bears and released offensive tackle Troy Kropog to make room for Webb on the 53-man roster.
Webb, a seventh-round draft pick of the Bears in 2010, was waived by them Friday. He is 6-foot-7 and 333 pounds.
In three years in Chicago, he started 44 of 46 games and all 32 of them in the last two years.
They left one spot on their practice squad, which could be saved for Kropog if he clears waivers. Teams were allowed to assemble eight-man practice squads at 11 a.m. Central Sunday, and the Vikings re-signed seven of their players from the offseason to the practice squad.
They are: RB Joe Banyard, OL Travis Bond, DT Everett Dawkins, TE Chase Ford, T Kevin Murphy and WRs Rodney Smith and Adam Thielen.
The Vikings also put CB Bobby Felder and DE D'Aundre Reed on injured reserve after they cleared injury waivers.
Two former Vikings were also claimed off waivers. The Jaguars claimed WR Stephen Burton and the Bills claimed CB Brandon Burton.
