Notebook: Asiata makes most of opportunities
When fans look back at the history of the franchise during the Metrodome years, Matt Asiata's name won't be one that comes immediately to mind, but in the final two games the Vikings played at the stadium, Asiata etched his name in the books as a key contributor. In the second-to-last Dome game, Asiata ran for three touchdowns. In the final game Sunday, he ran 14 times for 115 yards, including a 39-yard burst before the two-minute warning that salted away the 14-13 victory. Asiata knew he was likely going to get his second career start Sunday and was focused on not letting the enormity of the circumstances get him. "I was confident coming in because I wanted to make a contribution," Asiata said. "With both Adrian and Toby out, I figured it would be a lot like it was the last time.
