VU has been receiving panicky correspondence -- most likely from fantasy football players. Don't worry. Randy Moss will play Sunday.
The staff at VU gets a lot of e-mails and phone calls during the season asking about a variety of topics. Friday was an interesting day in that regard.
However the word travels, word got out that
Randy Moss
sat out Friday's practice. Whether it was fantasy football related or not, the flood of questions ensued. To end more of this, read carefully. RELAX. Moss will play Sunday.
While he remains listed as probable on the injury report, Moss will start Sunday. He was sat Friday more as a precaution and needed rest for his ailing back.
Sleep well, fantasy players. No. 84 starts Sunday. Then again, if he gets hurt...just kidding.
SATURDAY NOTES
* The Vikings defense has been nothing short of astounding this year. Stat of the year to date: In 2001, the Vikings had a scant eight interceptions. Last year, it went up to 16 -- still pretty pathetic. Through four games, the Vikings have 11 interceptions. With Mike Tice's obsession with stats and numbers, can 32 interceptions be projected?
*
Brian Russell
and
Corey Chavous
are currently tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with four apiece.
*
Michael Bennett
suited up Friday for practice. He obviously didn't partipate, but it was a good sign -- not only that he intends to play, but that he will allowed to travel to Atlanta today.
* For three weeks, Dan Reeves has waited to join the 200-win club among NFL coaches. Why not make it four, Dan? The third time wasn't a charm, but Vikings fans are more than willing to cheer for you on your fifth attempt.
