Posted Oct 24, 2003

was clear about the need for the Vikings to improve their kick return game.
, who had been handling those duties, was told earlier this week that he was going to be replaced on the kickoff team. Now it looks like he may be heading to injured reserve.
In an injury report more fitting of the Broncos than the Vikings, Tice indicated Avery has a knee injury that hasn't been reported or discussed previously and may send him to the injured reserve list -- which would mean he would be lost for the season.

to the active roster. VU will follow up on this as more information becomes available.
* It looks like
will be the primary kick return man Sunday. Tice said he was impressive in kick returns in practice. While
may also see time in the return game, this could be Chapman's chance to save his roster spot with the Vikings before Bennett returns.
* Tice hinted that Bennett may be "in uniform" for the Nov. 2 game with Green Bay. However, in uniform and playing could be two very different things.
