Campbell To Get ‘Snotty’ Fine?
Kelly Campbell

It’s rare when a coach begs the NFL to fine one of his players, but that is just what Mike Tice did Monday in reference to Kelly Campbell’s penalized actions.
Mike Tice
rarely minces words when it comes to voicing his displeasure. The latest casualty?
Kelly Campbell
.
Tice was livid Sunday when Campbell was called for coming off the bench and joining
Daunte Culpepper
in his roll dance following a TD that put the Vikings up 28-14 in the fourth quarter. The resulting 15-yard penalty set the Texans up in excellent field position and gave them a chance to score a touchdown that would set the wheels in motion to overtime.
Tice said he hopes the NFL "fines the snot" out of Campbell, saying he will likely take his own disciplinary action.
Players should know that referees are waiting for the chance to call penalties for excessive celebration. Hopefully, this will teach Campbell and the Vikings a lesson before it actually costs them a game.
TUESDAY NOTES
* The Vikings defense is allowing 294 yards a game – ranking it 31st in the league. The Vikings are last in pass defense.
* As if the yards allowed by the defense aren’t a big enough concern, the defense has forced just four turnovers in four games – after leading the league in that category much of last season.
*
Keenan Howry
’s shoulder injury looks serious enough that the team will likely place him on injured reserve today. The team is expected to bring
Ryan Hoag
up to the 53-man roster as Howry’s replacement.
* Center
Cory Withrow
is out one to three weeks with a knee injury.
Matt Birk
played the final three plays of overtime and is expected to start next week. As a precaution, VU has been told the Vikings plan to re-sign veteran
Billy Conaty
and release linebacker
Max Yates
from the 53-man roster.
