Linehan Gone to Miami

Vikings offensive coordinator Scott Linehan became former Vikings offensive coordinator Scott Linehan after being blown away with a contract offer from Miami.

The Vikings knew it was going to be difficult for the team to keep Scott Linehan. His name had already come up as a candidate with the Dolphins, Jaguars, Browns and 49ers, and many believed it was just a matter of time before he was gone.

That matter of time came Wednesday when he signed a three-year deal with the Dolphins for a reported $2.55 million.

The deal averages $850,000 a year -- almost tripling his salary of $300,000 with the Vikings. While the Vikes were expected to make a significant increase in their own offer, there was no reason to expect they would have come anywhere near that price -- which is $100,000 more than Mike Tice was paid last year.

With the search underway for a new offensive coordinator, the Vikings may also be looking for a new special teams coach. Rusty Tillman is said to be hanging precariously onto his job and may be replaced from within by former special teams standout Chris Walsh -- who joined the team as an assistant in 2004.
