Sharper Not Playing

The Vikings deactivated safety Darren Sharper today due to a knee injury. He joins two other usual starters on the inactive list.

In a bit of a surprise move, the Minnesota Vikings deactivated safety Darren Sharper before the game. He suffered a sprained knee last week against Cincinnati. Sharper said earlier in the week that he thought he'd be able to play, but by mid-week he was being classified as a game-time decision.

In his place, Willie Offord is expected to play strong safety with Corey Chavous sliding over to free safety, Sharper's usual position.

The Vikings also deactivated wide receiver Nate Burleson and linebacker E.J. Henderson due to injuries. Burleson sprained his knee last week as well, while Henderson suffered a high ankle sprain but returned to the game later.

In other game-day news, Mewelde Moore will start in place of Michael Bennett, who fumbled twice last week.

The other deactivated players for the Vikings are QB Shaun Hill, CB Laroni Gallishaw, running back Ciatrick Fason, TE Jeff Dugan and DT C.J. Mosley.
