Vikings Finishing NFL Europe Seasons
Ronyell Whitaker started at right cornerback for the Rhein Fire (6-4) and posted two tackles and a pass defensed in the Fire's 21-10 win over Cologne (4-6). Whitaker finished the season with 42 tackles, 12 passes defensed, and four interceptions (two returned for TDs). When Whitaker begins his workouts with the Vikings back stateside, he will be playing for a familiar coach, Mike Tomlin, who was his defensive backs coach in Tampa Bay and is now the Vikings' defensive coordinator.
Sean Bubin, who spent much of last year on the Vikings' practice squad, started at right tackle for the Hamburg Sea Devils (3-6-1) in their 34-13 win over Amsterdam (7-3) on Saturday. Bubin started all 10 games for the Sea Devils on the season.
World Bowl XIV, which will feature Amsterdam vs. Frankfurt, will be televised on NFL Network at 11 a.m. Central Saturday.
