Vikings Finishing NFL Europe Seasons

Wide receiver Aaron Hosack ended a strong season on a down note, but he will have another chance in the World Bowl Saturday. Cornerback Ronyell Whitaker and tackle Sean Bubin finished their NFL Europe seasons over the weekend.

Vikings wide Aaron Hosack started for the Frankfurt Galaxy (7-3) in their 14-13 win over Berlin (2-7-1) on Saturday but did not have any catches. For the season, he finished third in the league in receptions with 36, going for 473 yards and four TDs. Hosack will play in World Bowl XIV as the Galaxy will take on the Amsterdam Admirals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Central.

Ronyell Whitaker started at right cornerback for the Rhein Fire (6-4) and posted two tackles and a pass defensed in the Fire’s 21-10 win over Cologne (4-6). Whitaker finished the season with 42 tackles, 12 passes defensed, and four interceptions (two returned for TDs). When Whitaker begins his workouts with the Vikings back stateside, he will be playing for a familiar coach, Mike Tomlin, who was his defensive backs coach in Tampa Bay and is now the Vikings’ defensive coordinator.

Sean Bubin, who spent much of last year on the Vikings’ practice squad, started at right tackle for the Hamburg Sea Devils (3-6-1) in their 34-13 win over Amsterdam (7-3) on Saturday. Bubin started all 10 games for the Sea Devils on the season.

World Bowl XIV, which will feature Amsterdam vs. Frankfurt, will be televised on NFL Network at 11 a.m. Central Saturday.
