With rookies scheduled to show up today in Mankato for the start of training camp, the Vikings signed one player and informed three other players that three other players would no longer be on the roster.

Just when you thought the preseason roster was set, the Vikings continue to shuffle the cards.

A day after signing safety Dwight Smith, the Vikings made another signing and released three players.

The Vikings signed undrafted rookie Brandon Jones, who played his college ball at Purdue, to compete for a backup spot to starter Tony Richardson. The position became more wide open when Joey Goodspeed was lost for the season with a knee injury.

In addition, three players who were scheduled to head to Mankato today for the start of training camp were informed they were released. CB Ukee Dozier, who was on and off the team's practice squad last year, wide receiver Kelvin Kight and running back Taurean Henderson were all notified yesterday that they would be released.

All rookies and selected veterans are expected to be at the Mankato training facility today and start practicing Friday.
