The Minnesota Vikings released wide receiver Marcus Robinson on Sunday following a season-long rocky relationship with the new coaching staff.

The Vikings released wide receiver Marcus Robinson on Sunday.

Robinson was close to being released at the end of training camp, according to a league source, and there were clearly two different stories emerging this season between the coaching staff and Robinson regarding his ability to practice and play through pain.

Robinson was a surprise deactivation two weeks ago. He was listed as probable on the injury report leading up to the New York Jets game with an ankle injury, but following that game head coach Brad Childress said Robinson had not progressed enough from a hip flexor.

Robinson also had struggled to get back into action following a hamstring injury earlier in the season. He had been inactive for five games this season.

He had 29 catches for 381 yards and four touchdowns this season.
