Quinn Posturing Heats Up
NFL Draft

Whether any of the top teams are interested in Brady Quinn or not, they all did the window dressing Sunday, as the head coaches and top assistants for the Vikings, Browns and Texans were all in attendance at Quinn's Pro Day at Notre Dame.
The posturing for
Brady Quinn
was taken to a new level Sunday as the three teams that have been linked to the quarterback all had contingents attending his Pro Day workout Sunday. Representatives from the Browns, Vikings and Texans, who have the third, seventh and eighth picks in the first round, were all in attendance.
Word out of Houston and Cleveland is that, like the Vikings brass in attendance, the other teams and their coaching/scouting staffs were impressed with Quinn’s ability to throw just about every pass a quarterback is called upon to throw.
While it remains uncertain if his workout was enough to get the Browns to knuckle under and take him with the third overall selection, it does seem clear that Quinn has cemented his place among the top eight picks. The only question now is which team will end up with him? It’s looking more and more like it will come down to the three that did the personal eyeball test on Sunday.
MONDAY NOTES
* Wide receiver
Kevin Curtis
remained in Detroit Sunday night with talks expected to resume this morning. The feeling in the Detroit area is that the Lions will get a deal with Curtis done today. He visited the Vikings Friday before heading to Detroit over the weekend.
* Any interest the Vikings might have had in wide receiver
Donte Stallworth
could be in jeopardy after reports out of Philly have surfaced that Stallworth is in the league’s substance abuse program and one more violation could land him on the suspended list for four games.
*
Brad Johnson
met with the both the Cowboys and Broncos over the weekend and is expected to sign a deal to be a veteran backup for either
Tony Romo
or
Jay Cutler
.
* From the Man-Love From a Distance Department comes this: The Boston newspapers are buzzing about the potential of
Randy Moss
going to the Patriots, citing that
Bill Belichick
has long since been enamoured with Moss and his ability. The Raiders have made it clear that Moss is available, but it’s unclear whether the Pats would part with one of their first-round picks to get him – they have their own first-rounder and that of the Seahawks, acquired when they traded
Deion Branch
last year.
*
Lance Briggs
seems to be causing a stir with the Bears after being hit with the franchise tag. Despite getting a huge raise as a result, he has demanded that the Bears either remove the franchise tag or trade him – never a good sign for an All-Pro player.
* The Packers' willingness to let
Ahman Green
test free agency may have come back to bite them. Green will be announced this afternoon as a new member of the Texans after agreeing to a four-year contract. Green ran for more than 1,000 yards last year, four times as many yards as the next leading rusher – former Texan Verand Morency.
