Johnson Signs With Cowboys

Former Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson became the second of last week's cuts to find employment in the NFC East -- signing a three-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Add Brad Johnson to the list of recent Vikings cuts that have landed on their feet. Johnson, released a week ago by the Vikings at his request, signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract with the Cowboys.

Johnson, who was signed by the Vikings in 2005 to back up Daunte Culpepper, revived the team’s awful season after Pepp got injured. Johnson, who remained being paid less than starter’s money, began to have a rift with the team over the direction of the offense and drew the ire of fans for his poor performance in 2006.

Johnson will serve as backup to young Tony Romo. Room on the roster for Johnson was made last week when the Cowboys released Drew Bledsoe.

* Napoleon Harris agreed to a six-year deal with the Chiefs. Terms were not disclosed, but it is said to include $6 million in guaranteed money.
* Bears RB Thomas Jones, disgruntled about being asked to take a back seat to Cedric Benson, was traded Monday to the Jets for a second round pick in April’s draft.
* Kevin Curtis, who came to the Vikings practice facility Friday and Saturday for his first free agent visit, fired his agent Tom Condon Monday after a disagreement on a contract offer from the Lions.
* The Vikings are meeting with Titans wide receiver Bobby Wade today.
