Wiggins Signs With Jags

Jermaine Wiggins was one of the salary-cap casualties that marked the beginning of free agency. But after sitting for awhile, Wiggins found a new home Thursday night -- signing with the Jaguars.

Jermaine Wiggins found a landing spot Thursday night after spending nearly a month in free agency and it was a landing spot that looks very familiar.

Wiggins has been reunited with Mike Tice, the man who brought him to the Vikings while he was head coach here. Tice, who has the title of assistant head coach and offensive line coach under Jack Del Rio with the Jaguars, convinced the team that Wiggins could be their guy – agreeing to a one-year deal worth an estimated $1 million.

In his last two seasons under Tice, Wiggins caught 140 passes and led the team in receptions both seasons. With the Jags having released veteran Kyle Brady, Wiggins will likely be given a chance to contribute immediately – something that didn’t seem possible with the Vikings in 2007.

* Despite hearing Brad Childress shoot down any speculation to the contrary, the NFL Network continues to report that the Vikes have an interest in David Carr.
* There is growing talk that, if the Dolphins can swing a trade for Trent Green or David Carr, Daunte Culpepper will be flat-out released.
* While Culpepper may be on his way out in Miami, former Vikings guard Chris Liwienski is on his way in – agreeing to a one-year deal with the Dolphins.
* At his second workout, in which he ran and did the agility workouts, Brady Quinn ran a 4.73 40-yard dash.
