Pair of RFAs Sign Tenders
Other NFL teams had until April 20 to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets, but neither offensive lineman Anthony Herrera nor running back Artose Pinner received an offer. With little in the way of alternatives, Pinner and Herrera signed their offer sheets Monday with the Vikings.
Pinner was a reserve for most of the 2006 season, his first with the Vikings, rushing for 190 yards on 43 carries, but 125 of those yards and 29 of those carries came in his only start – against his former team, the Detroit Lions – while starter Chester Taylor was inactive. Pinner also added to his career bests with three touchdowns.
He had added four kickoff returns and four special teams tackles for the Vikings in 2006.
Herrera only played in two games last season after coming on strong the previous year under Mike Tice's coaching staff. The former undrafted free agent ended up with six starts in 2005, but barely saw action last season with Brad Childress' coaching staff.
Herrera is primarily a guard who can also back up at center.
