Wide receiver Justin Surrency, who was allocated to NFL Europa, had a season-high performance Sunday while his Vikings teammates were working in Minnesota’s minicamp.
Vikings wide receiver
Justin Surrency
didn’t garner the attention of reporters attending the team’s minicamp this weekend because he wasn’t in attendance. Instead, he apparently wasn’t garnering enough attention overseas either. The Rhein Fire allowed the NFL Europa-allocated receiver to catch a season-high 12 passes for 113 yards for the Amsterdam Admirals in their 41-38 loss Sunday to the Fire.
Surrency also returned one kickoff for 24 yards, but it was his receptions and yardage in the receiving game that stood out. In the past seven weeks, Surrency had a combined 19 receptions for 174 yards.
Surrency’s 12 receptions Sunday tied for fourth-most all-time in a single game in NFL Europe/Europa history, dating back more than 15 years.
Vikings cornerback
Jerron Wishom
, allocated to the Cologne Centurions, had two tackles and tied for a team-high three passes defensed in a loss to Hamburg.
Vikings offensive tackle
Jimmy Martin
started for the Fire, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Rhein and Martin play again Saturday. Surrency and the Admirals face Wishom and the Centurions on Saturday as well.
Former Vikings quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan continued his impressive Europa season, as he completed 27 of 37 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns for the league-leading Frankfurt Galaxy in a win. All three of his touchdown passes came in the game’s final 10 minutes in a come-from-behind 25-22 win over Berlin. O’Sullivan, who has played for the
Green Bay Packers
and Vikings, is now with the
Chicago Bears
.
Former Vikings receiver
Ryan Hoag
had one catch for 11 yards for Berlin.
