Robison Fifth Vikings Draftee Under Contract
The signing leaves the Vikings with their three highest draft picks – first-round running back Adrian Peterson, second-round wide receiver Sidney Rice and third-round cornerback Marcus McCauley – left to sign. Robison, the 102nd player selected in April, was the fifth Vikings draft pick to sign this year.
Robison is expected to compete for a situational pass-rushing role on the 2007 team. At the University of Texas, he started 37 of 49 games, registering 15 sacks and 181 tackles. He played linebacker in his freshman year before moving to defensive end, where he is expected to continue in the NFL.
Robison is the Longhorns' record-holder in the shot put and was the NCAA runner-up as a junior.
Like fifth-round wide receiver Aundrae Allison, who signed Tuesday, Robison received minimum base salaries of $285,000 in 2007, $370,000 in 2008, $460,000 in 2009 and $550,000 in 2010.
