Your daily fix for news, information, commentary and analysis on the Vikings.

Another quote from the vision guru
Here's another quote from an older article about Dr. Alan Reichow, the vision expert with Nike who worked with wide receiver Troy Williamson during the offseason:  “If an athlete is motivated and you challenge him with visual drills clearly relevant to his sport, his athletic performance will improve.  I have yet to see an exception.”

>How can Vikings not be better by default?
Sludge & Lake offered some hope for the Vikings in 2007, suggesting that no matter how great Tarvaris Jackson is in his first full season as a starter, he couldn’t possibly be any worse than the quarterback play they had last season.  And how could their receivers not be better this year?  The prediction here is for 9-7.  It’s worth a listen.

>Robison inks four-year deal
The Vikings have signed defensive end Brian Robison, their fourth-round pick out of Texas, to a four-year contract.  Robison reportedly received a signing bonus of $482,000, with base salaries of $285,000 in 2007, $370,000 in 2008, $460,000 in 2009, and $550,000 in 2010.  That leaves just the team’s top three picks – Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice and Marcus McCauley still unsigned.

>Robison a “workout warrior with a non-stop motor”
This realfootball365.com post calls recently signed rookie defensive end Brian Robison “a talented athlete who has a 40-plus-inch vertical leap and was timed at 4.67 in the 40-yard dash.  Robison was an All-Big 12 pick as a junior at Texas but is still a bit raw…This signing adds depth to an already good defensive line in Minnesota.  Robison could also play linebacker in the 3-4 scheme with his athletic ability. The Vikings are a solid No. 1 fantasy team defense and worth starting in your lineup each week, depending on the matchup.”

>Big Pat ahead of schedule
Vikings nose tackle Pat Williams is mean, lean (320 pounds) and ready to report for training camp in the best shape of his life, according to Sean Jensen at the TwinCities.com.  Williams has been working every morning with strength and conditioning coach Tom Kanavy.  “This year, I had it in my mind that I'd come into training camp in the best shape of my life,” Williams told Jensen.  “Tom is the best strength coach I've worked with.  He earns his living, and he's got a great staff.  This is the best I've ever felt (heading into training camp).”

>Vick takes one more step toward not playing?
Not a Vikings story, but with the Falcons on their schedule for their regular-season opener, the chances of facing Michael Vick appear to be fading.  The Falcons would face a $6 million salary cap hit in 2007 and another $15 million hit in 2008 if they release or trade Vick, so their in a pickle.  Until the commissioner rules on his future in the league, we concur with others calling for Vick to be placed on an indefinite paid leave of absence.

>Where will Culpepper land?
With Daunte Culpepper granted his freedom, where will he land.  Forget any suggestions about him returning to Minnesota.  It WILL NOT HAPPEN.  We think being reunited with Scott Linehan in St. Louis would be best for Culpepper.
