Winfield Among Sunday Inactives

The Vikings have a couple of starters deactivated Sunday, including cornerback Antoine Winfield.

The Vikings deactivated a couple of starters Sunday – namely Antoine Winfield on defense and Troy Williamson on offense.

Winfield has been struggling with a hamstring injury this week and Williamson has been at his homeland attending to family matters. His maternal grandmother died, with her funeral being on Monday, and Williamson has been trying to arrange for close relatives to attend.

Robert Ferguson will start in place of Williamson and rookie Marcus McCauley will start in place of Winfield.

The Vikings also deactivated QB Kelly Holcomb (emergency QB), S Mike Doss, FB Naufahu Tahi, TE Garrett Mills, T Chase Johnson and DE Jayme Mitchell.

The Chargers deactivated QB Charlie Whitehurst, CB Paul Oliver, LB Anthony Waters, C Nick Hardwick, WRs Malcolm Floyd and Buster Davis, TE Scott Chandler and LB Shaun Philliips. Hardwick and Phillips are starters.
