The Vikings will be without Adrian Peterson today.

The Vikings meant what they said when Adrian Peterson was put at 50-50 to play today. Peterson took to the turf at the Meadowlands for pregame warmups and, while he claimed to have no pain in the right knee that was injured two weeks ago against the Packers, he will not play today.

The team announced this morning that Peterson will be among the Vikings inactives against the Giants, who will be without their leading rusher Brandon Jacobs.

Antoine Winfield will miss his third game in the last four, meaning Marcus McCauley will get his third start. The other Vikings inactives are Mike Doss, Garrett Mills, Chase Johnson, Aundrae Allison and Jayme Mitchell. Kelly Holcomb will be the No. 3 quarterback.

For the Giants, both Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward are inactive, which will give Reuben Droughns the start at running back. The Giants' other inactives are WR Steve Smith, OT Adam Koates, DT Manny Wright, G Kevin Boothe and CB Corey Webster. Jared Lorenzen is the third quarterback.
