Winfield, Rice Inactive

As expected, the Vikings deactivated CB Antoine Winfield and WR Sidney Rice.

Neither wide receiver Sidney Rice nor CB Antoine Winfield practiced last week, and that brought them to the pregame inactive list on Sunday night.

Winfield suffered a strained pectoral muscle in Monday night's game against the Chicago Bears, and Rice sprained his ankle. Rookie Marcus McCauley will start in Winfield's place. WR Troy Williamson, a healthy scratch last week, is active to make up for Rice's absence.

Other inactives for the Vikings include QB Kelly Holcomb (3rd QB), S Mike Doss, FB Naufahu Tahi, TE Garrett Mills, LB Dontarrious Thomas (who also didn't practice all week) and T Chase Johnson.

A couple of interesting notes on the inactives. With Mewelde Moore active, he could see some action returning punts. Doss (hamstring) was practicing before Tank Williams (knee) this week, but with Dwight Smith active again, Smith should see the start. His status has been in question since being cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession in downtown Minneapolis, but he has started the past two games since that citation.

For the Redskins, Sam Hollenbach (3rd QB), QB Jason Campbell, S Peirson Prioleau, OL Mike Pucillo, DT Ryan Boschetti, WR Keenan McCardell, TE Todd Yoder and DE Alex Buzbee are inactive.

Two other pregame notes: With a win tonight, the Vikings will make the playoffs because of New Orleans' loss this afternoon. The Vikings are back wearing white pants and purple jerseys.
