Team MVPs on offense, defense and special teams were voted on by teammates and coaches. This year’s winners were no big surprise, although linebacker E.J. Henderson got the nod ahead of three other Pro Bowl players on defense.

Players and coaches selected the team’s offensive, defensive and special teams most valuable players for the season.

Running back Adrian Peterson was named the Vikings’ MVP on offense to the surprise of nobody. Peterson enters the team’s regular-season finale at Denver tomorrow with a team-leading 1,305 yards rushing. Peterson has averaged a whopping 5.7 yards per carry this season and has scored 12 touchdowns.

On defense, middle linebacker E.J. Henderson got the nod, despite three other Pro Bowl players – Pat Williams, Kevin Williams and Darren Sharper – from which to choose. Henderson leads the team’s defense with 138 tackles and has also posted 4.5 sacks so far this season.

On special teams, the honor goes to backup linebacker Heath Farwell, who has recorded a team-high 30 tackles on special teams. Farwell was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate for his work on special teams last week.
