Adrian Peterson continues to collect awards off of his remarkable rookie season, adding another time-honored award to his trophy case Friday.

Adrian Peterson may have to look into building a new trophy shelf.

Peterson added another piece of hardware to his growing collection Friday as he was named Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers of America. Peterson wasn’t the only Viking on the team. He was joined on the All-Rookie team by Brian Robison, the Vikings fourth-round pick last year who finished with 4.5 sacks in 2007.

Robison was one of just two players to make the 2007 All-Rookie team who wasn't either a first- or second-round draft pick – the other being Colts DT Ed Johnson.

In a statement from the team, Robison said, “I’m very happy about the award because it’s something that I’ve worked hard. I’ve got to thank my family and friends who have been so supportive through everything. The coaching staff and the entire Vikings have been great to me. I appreciate them taking a chance on me in the draft and I can’t wait to get the 2008 season started and accomplish our goals on the field.”

* PFW/PFWA followed suit by naming Steve Hutchinson and Kevin Williams to its All-NFL team, which selects one starter at each position. Earlier in the week, Hutchinson and Williams were named to the Associated Press All-Pro team.
* NFL.com, the league’s official website, has released its incredibly early fantasy ranking for 2008. Adrian Peterson is listed as the No. 2 running back behind only LaDainian Tomlinson. Sidney Rice is ranked 44th among wide receivers, Tarvaris Jackson is rated 23rd among quarterbacks and the Vikings defense is rated fourth overall.
* Sports Illustrated’s Dr. Z named Peterson as the magazine’s Rookie of the Year and narrowly missed naming him as the only running back on his All-NFL – using only one spot and giving it to Brian Westbrook of the Eagles.
