Carter, McDaniel H.O.F. Finalists

Former Vikings Cris Carter and Randall McDaniel were named as two of the 17 Hall of Fame finalists Tuesday.

The Vikings got a lot of thrills from Cris Carter and Randall McDaniel in the decade of the 1990s and, if things fall right, they may be teammates again in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Carter and McDaniel were named as two of the 17 finalists for the Hall of Fame Tuesday. Carter was one of the top receivers for the Vikings – leading the team in receptions for 10 straight years from 1991-2000, holding the franchise records for receptions with 1,004, yards with 12,363, eight 1,000-yard receiving seasons and touchdowns with 110.

Carter and former Redskins cornerback Darrell Green were the only two players to make the list of finalists in their first year of eligibility.

McDaniel, who stunned many by being snubbed from the finalist list in his first year of eligibility last year, is one of the all-time greats at the guard position and holds the distinction of being the only player in NFL history to be selected to 12 consecutive Pro Bowls - typically the benchmark for getting offensive linemen into the Hall of Fame.

In addition to C.C. and Randall Mac, former Viking Gary Zimmerman, who spent part of his career (1986-92) as a Viking, is also one of the 17 finalists for induction.
