McKinnie Arrested

Bryant McKinnie

Brad Childress has given players the mantra "Don't be the guy" -- a reference to players not being the person that gets in trouble that could cause embarrassment to himself or the organization. Early this morning, Bryant McKinnie apparently was "the guy" -- getting charged with aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest as part of an early-morning bar fight.

Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie was arrested early this morning for his involvement in a large street brawl that took place outside Club Space in downtown Miami – where McKinnie makes his offseason home.

According to reports in the Miami Herald, police were called to the club about a fight. As they arrived, McKinnie was being ejected from the club by a security guard. McKinnie then allegedly spit on a male who apparently was part of the bar's security contingent and began yelling obscenities.

The man said he wouldn't file charges if McKinnie left. While he left the immediate vicinity, he was seen by a police officer entering Gold Rush, a Miami strip club.

Several hours later, about 6:30 a.m., police received a call reporting a large fight in front of Club Space. McKinnie and the man in question were fighting and police observed McKinnie throwing punches. He was charged with aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

McKinnie posted bail later this morning and was released. No court dates have yet been announced.
