If the Vikings don’t sign Nate Jones today, the 5-foot-10, 183-pounder has at least one other option lined up. | |||

If the Vikings don’t get a contract worked out with cornerback Nate Jones, who was visiting with them today, the free agent will be heading to the Miami Dolphins for a visit on Thursday, according to Scout.com’s Adam Caplan. Jones is has been used mainly in nickel and dime situations in his previous four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and would likely battle for a roster position and playing time with Charles Gordon if the Vikings signed Jones. In his four seasons with the Cowboys, he has 78 tackles and two sacks. He also returned six kicks for 122 yards for the Cowboys last season, but Maurice Hicks and Aundrae Allison are expected to be the front-runners for that job in 2008 with the Vikings. Jones played for Rutgers when Vikings special teams coordinator Paul Ferraro was the defensive coordinator there from 2001-2004 before he joined the Carolina Panthers. |
