Judge sets June 2 trial date for McKinnie

A Miami judge has set a June 2 trial date for Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie on charges from a brawl outside a nightclub in Miami on Feb. 24.

Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is scheduled to have his day in court on multiple charges according to the Miami-Dade County Clerk's office, including one felony (aggravated battery) and three misdemeanors (battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence) for his role in the fight.  He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The circuit judge set the case for trial at a brief hearing Friday, April 11.  McKinnie's attorney and prosecutors say they had not reached any plea deal.

The 6-foot-8, 335-pound McKinnie was not in court.  He is charged after a brawl outside downtown Miami's Club Space in February.

McKinnie, 28, played college ball at the University of Miami and was drafted in the first round in 2002 by the Vikings.  The Vikings have said they will wait until the legal issues are settled before deciding on any disciplinary actions and his future with the team.

Regardless of the outcome of this proceeding, McKinnie could face disciplinary action from the NFL.  It was his fourth arrest since joining the Vikings in 2002, although charges in two of the incidents were dropped.
