Wrist Injury Lands Allen on IR

The injury bug continues to riddle the team's depth on the defensive line as veteran defensive tackle Kenderick Allen was placed on injured reserve on Monday.

The Vikings placed defensive tackle Kenderick Allen on injured reserve on Monday in another hit to their already thin depth on their defensive line.

Allen hurt his right wrist in the preseason opener against Seattle and will not be eligible to play this season with the Vikings. He was signed during the offseason with hopes of providing experienced depth behind Pat Williams at nose tackle.

The defensive line has already lost defensive end Jayme Mitchell (knee) for the season in the Seahawks game and was already without Kenechi Udeze while he undergoes treatment for leukemia.

Second-year defensive end Brian Robison has also missed significant time after having surgery to repair a varicose vein in his leg, though he hopes to be back by the regular-season opener at Green Bay.

Allen's injury leaves the Vikings with veterans Fred Evans and Ellis Wyms and rookies Letroy Guion and Leger Douzable behind Kevin and Pat Williams.
