The Vikings were quietly concerned when Michael Bennett had to get an MRI on his ankle Tuesday, but were happy with the end result.
The Vikings were cautiously optimistic heading into yesterday's MRI on
Michael Bennett
's injured ankle. They were hoping for the best and got good news.
The MRI showed no fracture or ligament damage, just a sprain. While some Twin Cities TV stations have reported that Bennett will sit out Sunday's game, Tice is confident he will play.
If his role is limited, both
Moe Williams
and
James Wofford
will see additional playing time.
WEDNESDAY NOTES
* Bennett, along with WR
Kelly Campbell
(ankle) and G
David Dixon
(hip) are expected to be held out of today's practice.
* A day after the Vikings rejected a plan for a too-small stadium on the University of Minnesota campus, key Legislators are urging them to get back to the table. One in particular -- DFLer Dean Johnson of Willmar -- say there's "no way on God's green earth" the Legislature will approve two stadiums. He also said he knew Red McCombs would reject the first offer by the U of M. The reason the stadium was rejected was simple -- the Vikings want to run it and the site listed can barely handle traffic and parking for U of M hockey games, which draws 15,000 to 20,000 people. There's no way it could handle the 65,000 fans for an NFL stadium. On top of that, the proposed site is on top of an abandoned dump and the minimum cleanup cost of removing contaminated soil is at $100 million.
* For those of you traveling for the holiday weekend, all of us at VU would like to wish a safe trip, a Happy Thanksgiving and to be sure to pack a pair of sweatpants so there will be no belt-related injuries.
