Record-Seekers vs. Packers

Adrian Peterson (Morry Gash/AP)

The Vikings didn't win the game, but Adrian Peterson and Cedric Griffin worked their way into team annals with a few milestones.

GAME NOTES vs. GREEN BAY

  • Adrian Peterson became only the fifth Viking to gain 100 yards rushing on a Monday night game, joining Chuck Foreman (1976 and '75), Robert Smith (2000), Mewelde Moore (2005) and Ted Brown (1981 and '83). Peterson had 103 yards on 19 carries.

  • Peterson also tied Bill Brown for second place in franchise history with the most 100-yard rushing games in a season opener. Each of them have two 100-yard season openers while Robert Smith had three (1996-97, 2000)

  • Peterson's 34-yard run in the first quarter was the second longest in team history during a Monday night game. Darrin Nelson holds that distinction with 72-yard run against Denver in a 1987 Monday nighter.

  • Cedric Griffin became only the fourth player in team history to block a field goal in a season opener, joining Carl Eller (1970), Mark Mullaney (1978) and Tim Irwin (1984).

  • Griffin became the sixth Viking to block a field goal on Monday night and the first since 1979, joining Bobby Bryant (1973), Alan Page (1975 and '76), Eller (1976) and Randy Holloway (1979).
