The Pro Bowl rosters will be announced today and it's likely that Matt Birk will get his third straight nod. But, considering the Vikings' record, will he be alone in Hawaii?

Matt Birk has made a name for himself around the NFL and, when Pro Bowl rosters are announced today, he is likely to be on the list. However, the question now is who will join him?

The buzz around Winter Park is that three more Vikings -- Randy Moss, Michael Bennett and Chris Hovan -- all deserve Pro Bowl recognition. But, none of them may end up making the squad.

Moss, who was left off last year's team because of perception more than performance, is second in the NFC in receptions and, if respect from defensive coordinators gets you on the team, he should be named. There are no guarantees that will happen.

Bennett is second only to Deuce McAllister in rushing yards, but there are several more high-profile RBs in the NFC who will likely get consideration ahead of him -- although not deserved.

As for Hovan, he has Brett Favre's vote, but DTs invariably go to the players on playoff teams, like quarterbacks on offense. Hovan has put together a year that, if the Vikings were 10-4 instead of 4-10, would get him a trip to Hawaii. Instead, he'll likely have to wait another year before the call comes.

THURSDAY NOTES
* VU has been told that, since Derrick Alexander has no guarantees on the second year of his contract, he's all but gone after this season.
* The Vikings met with Anoka County officials about a stadium north of the Twin Cities, but word is the team is also going to talk with St. Paul officials about building a stadium there. The city has had a windfall of profits from the X-Cel Energy Center and hopes the Vikings could ring the cash registers with a stadium there as well. St. Paul is also looking to land the Twins and become a true professional sports player on the national scene.
* The Vikings have only three players currently listed on the injury report. WR Kelly Campbell is listed as questionable with a turf toe and two players -- RB Moe Williams (heel) and LB Henri Crockett (pectoral) -- are listed as probable. Even though S Ronnie Bradford and LB Greg Biekert didn't practice Wednesday, neither is listed on the report.
* The Dolphins have only one major injury to report. G Jamie Nails is out and on injured reserve. All other players -- T Mark Dixon (ankle), S Trent Gamble (quadriceps), WR James McKnight (ankle), DE Adewale Ogunleye (abdomen), CB Patrick Surtain (heel) and DE Jay Williams (quadriceps) -- are listed as probable and expected to be available Saturday.
