Brett Favre

The story that will never go away is that of long-time Packers quarterback Brett Favre, who is once again being connected to the Vikings in recent speculation.

Does Favre still want to play if it’s in Minnesota?

According to CNNSI and NBC’s Peter King, who was a guest on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” on Monday, he believes long-time division rival Brett Favre still wants to play but “won’t play if he can’t play where he really wants to play.”  When asked where that might be, King said his “gut feeling” was that he’d like to play for the Vikings, according to this New York Post story.

After being charged with tampering by the Packers last year, you can be sure the Vikings are saying nothing about this speculation at this point.  But if Favre is somehow granted his outright release from the New York Jets during the offseason, the talk of Favre to the Vikings will likely explode.

For now, it’s pure speculation, but until Favre absolutely cannot play anymore, it just doesn’t seem like his NFL career is truly over.  Minnesota would have been an ideal situation for him and the Vikings a year ago, and given the quarterback situation now, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
