T.J. Houshmandzadeh won’t be wearing purple after all, and the Vikings lost out on another rumored free-agent target at wide receiver. Both contract agreements were reported late Monday afternoon.

Call it a two-for-none Monday for the Vikings.

In a short time period, Minnesota lost out on wide receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Nate Washington. Houshmandzadeh visited the Vikings over the weekend after he began a short free-agent visiting tour with a stop in Seattle. Washington, who was rumored to be an interest of the Vikings, signed with the Tennessee Titans.

Houshmandzadeh has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network and John Clayton of

"In what turned out to be a tougher decision than expected, wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh chose the Seattle Seahawks over the Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday afternoon, according to multiple sources," Clayton wrote on

According to Michael Smith of ESPN, Houshmandzadeh agreed to a five-year, $40 million contract that with $15 million in guarantees. Last year, the Vikings signed wide receiver Bernard Berrian to a six-year, $42 million contract. Berrian (28) is three years younger than Houshmandzadeh.
