Sure, it’s only preseason, but there are still some fun facts to come out of the Vikings’ win on Friday night. Here are a few preseason factoids to obsess over.

The last time the Vikings started the preseason 2-0 was in 2001. On week two of the preseason, the Vikings over the past 49 seasons are 30-19 overall, and 14-3-0 at home.

The Vikings have now played the Chiefs 15 times (8-7) in preseason football. That ranks as the second most opponent in late summer games. Only Miami (20 times) has played the Viking more in the preseason.

The Vikings’ first two preseason games have produced no turnovers against Minnesota. That ties a record for games in a preseason (two) with no turnovers, joining the 2006, 1992 and 1969 preseasons. This marks the first time in team history that the Vikings started a preseason with no turnovers after the first two games.

Tarvaris Jackson’s two touchdowns passing are the first in a preseason game for one quarterback since Daunte Culpepper’s two vs. San Francisco on Aug. 27, 2004. The team record is four, set by Fran Tarkenton against Dallas on Sept. 8, 1962.

Tarvaris Jackson has now gone two games without getting sacked. His two games in consecutive weeks with 15 passing attempts ranks tied for eighth-best for fewest times sacked in a game. Tarkenton also holds that record, throwing 40 passes on Aug. 23, 1975 without getting sacked. Overall, nine times Vikings quarterbacks have gone without a preseason sack when they’ve had at least 15 attempts.
