Favre didn’t inform Childress of surgery

Brad Childress said Thursday that he found out from a media account that Brett Favre had his ankle surgery last week.

“I think it was one of those (reports) that came on the Internet. I think somebody mentioned it to me,” Childress said.

But, of course, Favre’s ankle surgery came as no surprised to Childress.

“Can I say it astounded me? No, it didn’t. We certainly talked all the possibilities,” Childress said. “He could probably literally have every joint in his body redone.”

Childress shied away from saying that he viewed the surgery as a positive indicator that Favre would return to the Vikings in 2010, as most expect.

“I don’t wish to temper it any way. I’ll let you guys do that,” he said.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell wasn’t surprised by the surgery either.

“I have talked to him one time since that day, just checking in on him, more to mess with him about speaking at that motivational thing (Wednesday), to see how motivational he was,” Bevell said. “That is what I was giving him a hard time about.”

Bevell agreed with Favre, who said during his appearance via satellite at the motivational seminar in downtown Minneapolis that 2009 was his best season.

“He played fantastic for us,” Bevell said. “In my opinion it was one of his best that he had in his 19 years that he played. He didn’t turn the ball over. He ran our offense with perfection. He made a cohesive group out of our team. He kind of galvanized us and brought us all together. He is never going to be judged based on that one play and he did well enough to be proud of the season that he had.”

Favre says 2009 was his best season

Brett Favre appeared at a “Get Motivated!” seminar in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday, but it was a satellite appearance rather than in person.

"My biggest accomplishment was winning over the majority of Minnesota Vikings fans. I never thought I'd say that,” Favre said, according to the Pioneer Press.

Favre talked about his ankle surgery and said that his 2009 season with the Vikings was "the best season I've ever had."

Favre passed for 4,202 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions last year, and it was the only season in his 19 years that he had a passer rating above 100 (107.2).

Favre is scheduled to have the stitches taken out of his ankle next week, according to Pro Football Talk.

"Physically, I don't feel great," Favre said. "I'm not getting any younger."

Jerry Jones was rooting for Saints

Last year, Jerry Jones told reporters covering the Vikings that revenue sharing in the form the Vikings have become accustomed to would be going away. That comment, which gave some insight into the negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement, was met with a reprimand from the NFL.

This week, Jones was indirectly talking about the Vikings again, but this time his comments are more likely to turn off Vikings fans. At the owners meetings, he told NOLA.com that the New Orleans Saints beating the Vikings in the NFC Championship and then going on to win the Super Bowl was “one of the greatest things” for the NFL.

"The Saints' Super Bowl win is one of the greatest things that have happened in the NFL. And it has everything to do with the way the people of Louisiana and the people of New Orleans got up off their knees,” Jones told NOLA.com. “It is a privilege for me, as a little bit a part of the NFL, to have gotten to be a little bit a part of what the Saints and the fans of New Orleans have experienced with the Saints winning that Super Bowl.

"Short of the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl I can't think of anything that I would rather have been a part of than the Saints winning the Super Bowl last year."

Of course, the Vikings beat the Cowboys on their way to that NFC Championship Game.
