Ed Thompson: What's your experience been like at the
Senior Bowl?
Matt Forte: It's been pretty much what I expected, to come out
here and compete against these guys from other schools, and just have fun with
everybody. Come out here, work hard, and meet the coaches and show them
what I can do as a running back.
Thompson: You have some great offensive linemen working in front
of you. How does it feel to be running behind a line like that?
Forte: It feels great. Those are some big guys and I
haven't been around a line as big as that. So it's something new, but it's been fun.
Thompson: What are you hoping pro scouts will see about you as
they watch this game and your practices this week, Matt?

Forte: I hope they notice that I'm an explosive running
back. I
may be big, but I'm explosive also. I can catch the ball out of the
backfield and block for the quarterback. I'm an every-down back. So I hope they
see that and, once I meet them, that I'm a good-character guy.
Thompson: How did you develop your pass-receiving skills?
Forte: I think it came from when I first got to Tulane.
They had Mewelde Moore and he caught a lot of passes out of the backfield.
So I knew that, and my position coach, Greg Davis, was telling me "you're
going to have to catch a lot of passes also." We worked on it
during the summer using a JUGS machine and staying after
practices and catching extra balls. And it became second nature.
Thompson: Earlier today I had the opportunity to interview
former Chargers running back Natrone Means who was a really punishing runner in
his own right. And I asked him if there was someone out on the field here in
Mobile that reminded
him a bit of himself. He basically said he didn't know if there anyone with his
size with the kind of feet that he had, but said that you had good size and
banged the ball up in there pretty well. He was very impressed by you.
What
do you think about that?
Forte: That's a great compliment coming from a guy like
that. That shows you that I've been turning some heads, and I just hope to
continue to do that and play my hardest so I can hopefully turn some more heads.
Thompson: Is there anything you'd like to say to the Tulane fans
who will be rooting for you this weekend?
Forte: Let them know I'm out here and I'm doing my thing.
Let them know that I still remember them and I'm going to represent for Tulane.
