Biography:
The Vikings brought Gus Frerotte aboard after a one-month search for a veteran backup in the 2003 free agency period. They settled on Frerotte to help on the sidelines with the maturation of Daunte Culpepper.

He has a 76.2 QB rating after spending five years with Washington, one with Detroit, two with Denver, one with Cincinnati and one with the Vikings.

2003: Filled in admirably for an injured Daunte Culpepper, making two starts. Set a team record with a 157.2 passer rating in his first start as a Viking, with four TDs and an interception. Finished the season with a 118.1 rating on seven TDs and two interceptions.

2002: Started three games for the Bengals, and the season ended as one of only two years in which Frerotte has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns (1 TD, 5 INTs).

2001: Played in four games for Denver, starting one, and ended with a 101.7 quarterback rating, the highest of his career.

2000: Started six games for the Broncos, throwing nine TDs and eight INTs.

1999: Started six of the 10 games he played in for Detroit and ended the season with 2,117 yards, nine TDs and seven INTs.

1998: Started two games for Washington in his final season as a Redskin.

1997.Started every game he played (13) for the Redskins, finishing with 2,682 yards and a 73.8 QB rating.

1996: Started all 16 games for the Redskins, completing 57.8 percent of his passes, throwing for a career-high 3,453 yards and a 79.3 rating.

1995: Started 11 of 16 games, throwing 13 TDs and 13 INTs.

1994: Played in and started four games as a rookie, throwing for 600 yards and a 61.3 QB rating.

College: Finished his career at Tulsa as the school’s second-leading passer behind T.J. Rubley. Ended up with 5,480 yards and 32 TDs with a 50.2 completion percentage.

Personal: Led Ford City (Pa.) High School to its first district final in school history in 1988. Lettered four times in baseball, three times in football and three times in basketball. He and wife Ann have a daughter, Abigail, and two sons, Gunnar and Gabriel.
