| Biography: |
Mike Nattiel shed the "undersized" label to emerge as a solid third-down, play-making linebacker in his rookie season after being a sixth-round draft choice out of Florida in 2003.
2003: Ranked third on the team with 19 special teams tackles and contributed 20 tackles in a part-time role in the defensive scheme. Saw more playing time toward the end of his rookie season as a passing-down linebacker. Played in all 16 games as a substitute.
College: Recorded 310 tackles (181 solos) with three sacks, nine stops behind the line of scrimmage, 15 quarterback pressures and nine pass deflections. Florida’s most experienced player in 2002, starting every game at strongside outside linebacker, recording a career-high 148 tackles (88 solos) with two sacks for minus 14 yards and six stops for losses of 28 yards. Played in all 11 regular-season games with eight starts in 2001, recording 66 tackles (37 solos). Played in all 12 regular-season games with seven starts as a sophomore, recording 61 tackles (34 solos), intercepting two passes and recovering a pair of fumbles. Played in all 12 games with one start as a freshman. Sociology major.
Personal: Attended Newberry (Archer, Fla.) High, where he received All-American recognition. Rare three-time first-team All-State (3A) pick who was also named to Super Prep's All-American team. Named to National Bluechips All-American team and that publication ranked him among the nation's top dozen prospects at weakside linebacker. Named to Prep Star's All-American team and that publication ranked him among the top eight linebackers in the SEC region. Uncle is Ricky Nattiel, an outstanding Florida wide receiver in the 1980s who was a first -round NFL draft selection by the Denver Broncos in 1986.
