The Vikings signed Steve Farmer as a rookie free agent after the 2003 draft.
Farmer is a raw but talented, athletic tight end with a legitimate chance to compete for a roster spot. A former basketball player with soft hands and very good pass-catching ability. Will need lots of reps but is an intriguing prospect with good long-range potential.
2003: Spent the season on injured reserve after giving coaches reason for optimism during spring and summer camps.
