Biography:
Moe Williams’ role with the Vikings seems to be ever-developing and changing. After a year with Baltimore, Williams rejoined the Vikings in 2002. He spent his first five years in the league in Minnesota.

He has gone from mainly a special teams player to a solid backup running back to a part-time feature back, especially in short-yardage situations.

2004: Became only the sixth running back in team history to play in 100 games. As the third-down and short-yardage back, rushed for 161 yards on 30 carries (a 5.4-yard average) and three touchdowns. Also added 21 catches for 233 yards (an 11.1-yard average). Started the first game of the season and played in 13 more. Limited by a calf injury much of the season.

2003: Started seven games while Michael Bennett was recovering from foot surgery and Onterrio Smith was developing as a rookie. Had more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the first time in his career, finishing 14th in the NFC in rushing and ninth with 1,389 yards from scrimmage. Posted career highs with 644 receiving yards and 745 rushing yards. Caught 65 passes in 2003 compared to his 60 catches in his previous seven NFL seasons combined.

2002: Ranked third in the NFC with 11 rushing touchdowns, primarily as the Vikings’ short-yardage back. Rushed for a TD in seven consecutive games, a team record. Finished the season with career highs in rushes (84), yards (414) and touchdowns. Also returned 24 kickoffs and added four special teams tackles.

2001: Gained 291 yards on 65 carries in Baltimore, a 4.5-yard average, in mostly a backup role.

2000: Got 67 yards on 23 carries and four receptions for 31 yards in a backup role during Robert Smith's healthiest season of his career. Continued to be used heavily on special teams, registering 16 tackles and a fumble recovery, and 10 kickoff returns.

1999: Received even more opportunities on offense, rushing 24 times for 69 yards and a touchdown. Was the third-leading rusher on the team and had a career-high 20 special teams tackles, forcing two fumbles. Missed two games with injuries.

1998: Missed four games in 1998 due to hamstring and foot injuries, therefore returning only two kickoffs and getting eight special teams tackles.

1997: Had 22 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown. Also had another good year on special teams. Averaged 24.3 yards per kickoff return and had 20 special teams tackles.

1996: Joined the Vikings as a third-round draft pick in 1996 out of Kentucky. Made an immediate impact on special teams, tying for sixth on the team with nine special teams tackles after missing seven games with an ankle injury.

College: While at Kentucky, Williams was nearly the all-time yards-per-carry leader, finishing with a 5.40-yard average. He also gained the second-most yards in Wildcats history. He never missed a game in college. In high school, he was the Georgia Player of the Year as a senior, when he rushed for almost 2,000 yards.
