| Biography: |
The Vikings signed free agent CB Ronyell Whitaker, a two-year NFL
veteran of the Tampa Bay Bucs, on Feb. 21. Whitaker saw time in four games with a start in 2003 and spent 2004 on the Buccaneers’ practice squad. Whitaker originally joined Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2003. He spent eight weeks on the practice squad before moving to the active roster and made his lone
career start vs. Houston (12/14/03). Whitaker studied under current Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin and DBs coach Joe Woods in Tampa Bay.
At Virginia Tech, Whitaker earned first-team All-Big East honors as a junior and
third-team All-America. Whitaker is the nephew of professional boxer Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker. |
