| Biography: |
| Explosive and ferocious defensive tackle has quickly developed into one of the most productive players at his position in just two seasons in the NFL. His selection as a starter for the 2006 Pro Bowl after just his second season made him the quickest Bears DT to be named an all-star since Wally Chambers played in the 1974 Pro Bowl as a rookie. Named to Pro Football Weekly/Professional Football Writers of America All-NFC Team and Associated Press All-Pro second team. Has started all 32 regular season games in his career, the 4th-longest current streak on the Bears and 3rd-longest on defense. Has recorded 6.5 sacks through his first two seasons, the 3rd-most sacks by a Bears DT in his first two years (J. Flanigan, 11, 1994-95; W. Perry, 10, 1985-86) since 1982. Became Bears first rookie defender since Mike Brown in 2000 to start all 16 games and was Chicago's first rookie D-lineman to open his career as a starter since 1999 (Russell Davis) and first rookie DT to do so since 1975 (Roger Stillwell). His 3.5 sacks in 2004 were the most by a Bears rookie since 2000 (Brian Urlacher, 8). Rookie recipient of 2004 Brian Piccolo Award as voted by his teammates. |
