How Acquired: Drafted by the Vikings in the third round of the 2003 draft.
Injury History: Missed 13 games in 2005 after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Missed four games during his rookie season in 2002 with an ankle sprain.
Contract Status: Vikings Contract Chart
Career Stats: FoxSports.com Player Page
2005: Played in just three games behind Darren Sharper in 2005 before suffering a season-ending torn ACL in the third game of the season vs. New Orleans. He was placed on injured reserve the following week.
2004: Didn’t start a game until the playoffs, filling in for Corey Chavous during both postseason games. Was the special teams captain, where he registered 17 tackles. On defense, had 24 tackles during the regular season, adding another 15 in two playoff games.
2003: Played sparingly on defense (with only three tackles), but contributed with 15 tackles on special teams. Was named special teams captain after Jack Brewer was placed on injured reserve.
2002: After losing Robert Griffith to free agency and releasing Orlando Thomas, the Vikings thought they addressed the defensive secondary in the third round of the 2002 draft when they selected Offord in the third round of the draft. He started at strong safety in six of the 12 games he played and all four preseason games. Registered 30 tackles and had his only interception of the season in the opener against Chicago. Also contributed on special teams with three tackles.
College: Offord started his collegiate career as a weakside linebacker in 1998, playing in 10 games. In 1999, he moved into the secondary and saw limited action. His junior year he started all but one game at a position the Gamecocks call the “right spur.” Had 59 tackles in 2000. In 2001, ranked fourth on the team with 84 tackles. Was called “the unquestioned leader of the Gamecocks’ defense,” despite playing with the more highly regarded defensive end-outside linebacker Kalimba Edwards. Numbers showed a strong player. He ran a 4.61 40-yard dash and had a 35-inch vertical jump, but his most impressive Combine number is 35, the number of times he bench pressed 225 pounds.
Personal: Played high school football against Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper at Palatka (Fla.) High. He was a two-time all-state selection in Florida. Has one son, Zacquias. Is also an avid motorcycle rider.
