How Acquired: Signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2006 NFL draft.
Contract Status: Vikings Contract Chart
Analysis: Intriguing prospect that played quarterback in college but projects to wide receiver in the NFL. Has excellent size, good hands and quick feet. Strong and physical. Talented but raw and undeveloped. A good practice-squad, developmental-type prospect if he’s willing to make the position switch, works hard and responds to WR coach Darrell Wyatt. Vitals: 1.16 (10-yd), 2.70 (20-yd), 4.59-4.73 (40-yd), 32.5 VJ, 9-6 BJ, 4.26 short-shuttle, 6.94 three-cone.
College: Began his college career at the University of Houston. After redshirting in 2001, he started the first four games of 2002, before tearing his left ACL and missing the rest of the season. A three-year starter at Texas State. In his first season, he completed 240 of 473 passes for 3,129 yards and 21 touchdowns. In 2004, he took over a much different offensive style and fought through a shoulder injury – completing 84 of 143 passes for 1,202 yards with 10 TDs and six interceptions. He also rushed for 409 yards and two TDs. As a senior, he completed 208 of 363 passes for 2,875 yards and 21 touchdowns, with just nine picks. He also ran 159 times for 1,057 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Personal: Started three years at Adamson (Texas) High School and passed for more than 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns during his career. A First-Team Academic All-State selection. As a senior, threw for 1,667 yards and 13 touchdowns while running for 796 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also a basketball standout in high school, earning a first-team all-district selection as a senior.
