Bethel Johnson was signed by the Vikings on Oct. 10, 2006, after reaching an injury settlement with the New Orleans Saints earlier in the year. The Saints acquired him from the New England Patriots in a trade on June 5, 2006. He was drafted by New England in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft.
He had 30 receptions for 450 yards in his previous three seasons with the Patriots. He has also averaged 25.1 yards on 102 kickoff returns with the Patriots from 2003 to 2005.
