| Biography: |
The Vikings have had success drafting linebackers in the middle rounds (witness Ed McDaniel in the fifth round), and the team is still hoping Antonio Wilson can progress into a contributing role. He received rave reviews for his quickness and explosion coming out of Texas A&M-Commerce.
2001: Played in NFL Europe and was on the Vikings’ practice squad for the first half of the season. Played in three games at linebacker and contributed on special teams. Finished the season with eight tackles.
2000: Was active for only game (in November) during the 2000 season, where he saw limited special teams action. Didn't see the field during the regular season as a linebacker.
College: Wilson, a fourth-round pick out of Texas A&M Commerce, was a consensus All-American, All-Western Region and All-Lone Star Conference in 1999. He led the team in tackles with 124, nine sacks and 18 tackles-for-loss. He also added one interception, a fumble recovery and four forced fumbles.
In 1998, Wilson was All-Lone Star Conference and All-Western Region second-team while starting every game. He had 95 tackles, two sacks and 14 tackles-for-loss, intercepted a pass and recovered two fumbles.
In 1997, he was all-conference honorable mention, had 72 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles-for-loss. In 1996, his freshman year, he played in every game, starting five, while getting 57 tackles, two sacks, seven tackles-for-loss and a fumble recovery.
He also lettered in track in high school.
